Developed by healthcare professionals for parents, our LittleOak Transition Guide has been created to help support a gentle and gradual change to a new formula, with expert tips to help make the transition as smooth as possible for your little one.
Rather than making a sudden change, we recommend transitioning gradually over 6–8 days to help support your baby’s tummy and feeding routine during this time.
This guide is specifically created for Canadian families moving from LittleOak to a new formula
Days 1–2
1 feed new formula + remaining feeds LittleOak
Days 3–4
2-3 feeds new formula + remaining LittleOak
Days 5–6
3-4 feeds new formula + remaining LittleOak
Transition tips
- Always prepare each formula exactly according to the instructions on the tin before combining.
- Introducing the new formula in the morning feed can help you monitor how your baby responds throughout the day.
- Try to keep other feeding routines consistent during the transition, including bottle type, feeding times, and settling routines.
What to expect
It’s completely normal to notice small changes in your baby’s poo colour, smell, or feeding patterns during a formula transition.
If you notice any of the following, we recommend speaking with your healthcare professional:
- Frequent vomiting or ongoing discomfort
- Watery diarrhoea or very hard stools
- Refusal to drink the new formula
- Any symptoms you are concerned about
Every baby is different, and some little ones may take a little longer to adjust than others.
